A Korn Ferry Tour golfer has apologized after calling a World Golf Hall of Famer a complete turd, a true piece of trash, and selfish.Â
A day after slamming Vijay Singh over his decision to enter the first Korn Ferry Tour tournament after the coronavirus hiatus, Brady Schnell said he was sorry and should have used a different approach.
âYesterday I said some disrespectful things towards @VijaySinghGolf and for that I am truly sorryâ Schnell wrote on Twitter. âA different approach should have been taken in order to get my point across. I will learn from this and be better! I’m looking forward to getting back to work and playing some golf.â
Schnellâs criticism, in a series of since-deleted tweets, stems from Singhâs decision to enter the Korn Ferry Tourâs Korn Ferry Challenge on June 11-14, the first tournament on the PGA Tourâs developmental circuit after a hiatus due to the coronavirus. The 57-year-old Singh will exercise his lifetime exemption on the PGA Tour â a result of having more than 20 wins â as the tour he mainly plays on, the 50-and-over Champions Tour, isnât scheduled to resume play until July 31.Â
Schnell slammed Singh for the decision.
âHey @VijaySinghGolf you are a true piece of trash if you except money playing in a Korn Ferry Tour event and Iâll say it right to your face,â Schnell said in one tweet.Â
His comments arise from Singh, who has made over $71 million on the PGA Tour, taking the spot and the potential money from a regular on the tour. In another tweet, Schnell said, âIts just Vijay being Vijay. Selfish.â
âDo you know how much those points and money could do for a young kid?â Schnell wrote in another tweet. âHeâs a complete turd for playing. Heâs got his money and heâs got his career. Just wait another month and roll with your senior friends.â
Singh has not responded â but has liked several tweets supporting his decision.Â
Including one from Phil Mickelson.Â
âItâs no secret VJ and I arenât close, but Iâd like to say on his behalf that in addition to being a member of the HofF, heâs a big part of the PGA Tourâs success which financially subsidizes, and always has, the KFT,â Mickelson tweeted. âHe has earned the right to play when and where he wants.â
